‘BUTTERFLY LOVERS’ violin concerto – standing ovation for renowned Chinese ‘Yehudi Menuhin’ Zhongguo Sheng and Pianist Hiroko Seta at Melbourne Recital Centre

Red Emperor is proud to be associated with the ‘Timeless Melody’ concert by Russian trained Chinese violinist Zhongguo Sheng and his wife, Japanese pianist Hiroko Seta.

Presented by Castiglione Arts and Culture in two sell-out concerts on 3rd and 4th July at the MRC, it was a triumphant return to Australia after 35 years for Maestro Zhongguo Sheng. At that time, he was brought to Australia by the ABC to mark the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation signed by the two countries, which involved performances in all the major cities.

Red Emperor was publicly thanked by Maestro Zhongguo Sheng at the concerts for its generous support. More than being a major sponsor, Red Emperor was the venue of choice to host the performers and guests in their many celebrations.

For Red Emperor owner Lida Gao, it was perhaps the shared experience of time spent in Russia, or a love of classical music that prompted the unreserved generosity shown. She and co-owner John Lin were truly delighted with the success of the concerts.

“It was a real honor for us,” Lida said. “The repertoire was designed to show off his mastery of the violin. At the same time, the audience was treated to rarely performed Chinese Classical compositions on the violin that touched our hearts. There is a lot of artistry involved in fine music and fine cuisine. We want people enjoy both!”
